Upjohn Export B.V. will manage Upjohn’s export business in markets without a local trading presence. The General Manager for Upjohn Export B.V will be the single point of accountability to ensure the integrity, operational efficiency, high quality delivery, and compliance of Upjohn’s export business

Reporting into the Sr. Director Financial Planning & Analysis, as the Upjohn General Manager you will manage the incorporation and set up of the new entity. Managing the transfer of Upjohn business from Pfizer Export B.V. (PEBV) and other trading entities, you will design and recruit the organization to manage Upjohn’s export business. The General Manager will also be responsible for setting up Upjohn Export B.V’s financial and control environment, liaising with PEBV, Global Finance Services and Inter Company operations to ensure alignment and adherence with existing Pfizer process standards in this space

At the General Manager you will also be responsible for ensuring Pfizer’s trading and export compliance programmes are followed and delivered for all markets, third parties and transactions across the export business. Other responsibilities:

  • Serve as the single point of accountability and as a statutory director for Upjohn export operations, including sign-off and approval for all fiduciary, reporting and operational requirements/obligations
  • Provide commercial leadership to Upjohn management for the markets and regions in scope, ensuring Operating Plans are developed,  monitoring actual results vs the budget objectives
  • Create and lead Upjohn’s export strategy, including identifying innovative operating models to support Alliance Market export business
  • Develop and lead the ramp up plan for Upjohn Export, including incorporation activities, organizational design and recruitment, Process and Control adoption (utilizing existing Pfizer standards, and ensuring alignment with PEBV, IO operations and GFS), and migration of existing third party business into the Upjohn Export  model
  • Work across a multi-functional senior stakeholder group to ensure key aspects of the business as usual export operation are coordinated and managed effectively, on time
  • Manage preparation and sign off on annual report, ensure and approve profitability review, and manage Upjohn Export income tax returns
  • Manage the Upjohn export Balance Sheet/Working Capital (e.g. DSO optimization)
  • Ensure accuracy of IC recharge model for local service provision (customer service, inventory, rep and branch office costs etc.)
  • Work with Tax and associated functions to ensure efficient and pro-active planning and execution of Pfizer’s tax strategy in the export markets, including any statutory reporting impacts
  • Prepare and validate the P&L and Balance Sheet for Upjohn Export in line with Pfizer’s accounting standards, calendar and requirements
  • Ensure internal and external audit requirements for Export are managed, and ensure good audit findings for the export business.

About you

Education: MBA preferred
Language skills: Multi lingual capability is an advantage, fluency in spoken and written English essential

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Pharmaceuticals industry, preferably at a senior management level in Sales Order Management/Order to Cash and/or Finance
  • Demonstrable experience of regional or global trade and channel management within a commercial/business setting strongly preferred
  • Commercial Finance experience a strong advantage, including management of financial statements, AR and credit and risk. Working knowledge of tax, tax strategy and transfer pricing issues a strong advantage
  • Experience of leading cross functional and regional/global change management programmes essential
  • Must exhibit track record of business performance excellence – results orientation is essential
  • Senior level management experience required, including demonstrable people management
  • Must have a proven track record of senior management engagement and collaboration, preferably at a regional or global level

Other competencies:

  • Contract negotiation and commercial deal management
  • Excellence in business planning and strategy
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
