Holding Controller

For the Upjohn business unit we are looking for a Holding Controller who will be located in the Netherlands, with key goal to oversee the technical accounting and accuracy of financial reporting, and accountable for the financials of Upjohn Holding Companies

Main responsibility is to directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling the accuracy of the accounting properly, reflecting the financial position of the holding companies. The Holding Controller will maintain and direct the internal control environment which includes designing and monitoring internal controls over the holding company’s financial reporting processes to ensure regulatory compliance. Our new Holding Controller will report into the Finance Director– Upjohn HoldCo and Upjohn Export Company. The main responsibilities are:

  • Managing compilation and filing of Statutory Accounts of the Dutch holding entities and act as a contact person for internal & external auditors
  • Ensuring timely and accurate statutory and monthly financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, local/statutory accounting standards, WBB policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations
  • Responsibility for the implementation of the Dutch Upjohn Holding Companies restructuring plans
  • Cooperating to the preparation & implementation of international legal entity restructuring plans
  • Responsibility for US GAAP & Local GAAP tax provision calculations and reporting
  • Coordinating preparation of the corporate income tax returns with the service provider and review filing of CIT returns for all Dutch holding companies
  • Overall, you will also monitor the application of the Dutch participation exemption for participations held by Dutch holding companies

About you

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Experience:
    • Approx.  10 years’ experience in accounting as local / USGAAP / controller or equivalent experience in a company, based in The Netherlands
    • Experience in financial controlling in holding environment and knowledge of multi-national financial reporting requirements.
    • Large public accounting / audit firm experience is considered as a plus
    • Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry is considered a plus
  • Technical Skills Requirements:
    • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
    • Proficiency with tax accounting, internal controls, and other related accounting pronouncements and experience in their application
    • Demonstrated ability to interact and team with professionals in various functional areas to resolve complex tax issues
  • Language skills: Fluent English written and spoken required, spoken Dutch as an advantage
