About the role

The Manager, Global Policy & Public Affairs (GPPA), Primary Care IDM will promote a policy environment that will enable access to Pfizer’ Primary Care Portfolio in the IDM Region. They will work collaboratively with other colleagues on the Primary Care GPPA team, as well as Commerical and enabling partners, to design and deliver structured public affairs and stakeholder engagement plans which support Global, Regional and Country prioritized objectives. The role will be dedicated primarily to the mRNA and Vaccines enterprises, and secondarily to assisting in other Primary Care Policy & Public Affairs team initiatives.

  • Work collaboratively with the IDM Global Policy & Public Affairs – mRNA / Vaccines team to provide strategic counsel and support to Global Commercial and partner functions (Patient Health & Impact (PHI), Medical, etc.) on public affairs environment and efforts.
  • Monitor and provide insights on the effects of government policies, non-government organization/other stakeholder and competitor strategies on the Primary Care business, in the international developed markets (Europe & Developed Asia)
  • Assist in the development of Public Affairs strategies and tactics needed to implement public affairs plans; ensure they are aligned to commercial priorities and integrated into regional / priority country commercial strategic and operating plans
  • Work closely with Vice President, Global Public Affairs – Primary Care, and others on the Primary Care GPPA team to prepare the regional and country environment for access to pipeline and portfolio
  • Contribute toward increasing country colleague’s public affairs and stakeholder engagement capabilities, and to build Pfizer’s reputation through innovative and aligned external and internal strategies in close collaboration with colleagues in IDM Policy & Public Affairs.
  • As needed, engage externally with advocacy organizations, professional organizations, think thanks, scientific associations, and other influencers in support of key objectives
  • Serve as liaison to other GPPA functions for Primary Care GPPA team as instructed
  • Develop and implement metrics to measure effectiveness and impact of key initiatives; manage strategic operating plan process
  • 70% of time expected to be spent on IDM mRNA & vaccines activities; 30% supporting broader Primary Care Public Affairs portfolio
  • Ensure all activities/programs are in compliance with Pfizer policy and legal obligations.

About you

This position requires the integration of public affairs/government relations, alliance development, and business expertise to develop effective strategies that support Pfizer’s Global I&I priorities. The ideal candidate will possess experience in several of these areas with the capability of quickly acquiring knowledge in others. The position requires extensive interaction with colleagues from across Pfizer’s headquarters, regional and country locations.

  • B.A. / B.S. required
  • Years of experience: minimum 4-5 years in the pharmaceutical industry, another health care sector, public policy, communication, public affairs, or market access
  • Knowledge of health care policy and pharmaceutical industry, and understanding of business and regulatory environment required
  • Demonstrated success in a matrix environment with particular emphasis on working across a Corporate Affairs organization
  • A history of strategic and tactical plan implementation that have netted results
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills; ability to set and manage budgets
  • Demonstrated track record of project management, organizational skills and attention to details
  • Experience in environment and public policy shaping is preferred
  • Experience working in / with IDM markets and understanding of international healthcare systems preferred.

International travel requirement: up to 30%
