Waar leven teken?

Teken leven dicht bij de grond in lang gras en zijn te vinden in parken, tuinen, bossen en weilanden, zowel binnen als buiten steden.2 Ze kunnen niet springen of vliegen, maar hechten zich vast aan de huid van dieren of mensen die tegen hen aan komen.3 Tijdens buitenactiviteiten lopen mensen daarom het risico om gebeten te worden door een teek, bijvoorbeeld tijdens het kamperen, wandelen, fietsen, picknicken, fruit plukken, paddenstoelen plukken of joggen.5 Het is verstandig om zoveel mogelijk op de paden te blijven en je niet te begeven tussen dichte begroeiing en struikgewas.
