The Internal Medicines business unit makes innovative drugs available to millions of patients worldwide. We now have an exciting Medical Affairs position available in the cardiovascular/anti-coagulation field. The right candidate for the Medical and Scientific Relations Manager (MSRM) position is a highly motivated individual who gets his/her energy from scientific engagement with a wide range and level of health care professionals.
Can you make the difference for anti-coagulation patients in the Netherlands?
The MSRM will be Pfizer’s scientific ambassador providing medical and scientific input to medical activities related to anti-coagulation. He/she will be externally focused, however colleagues will also depend on his/her knowledge and experience. The role will be reporting to the medical director at Pfizer NL, you will be part of the alliance (BMS/Pfizer) medical team as well as the cross functional anti-coagulation team.
Clearly the right candidate has strong collaboration skills and is willing to actively partner with other functions to drive meaningful results for patients and Pfizer.

The MSRM is the scientific expert and partner in the field of anti-coagulation.
- Discuss our products and therapeutic field in depth, patient treatment trends and clinical trials in the areas in which Pfizer is involved on a peer to peer level with a defined audience of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. (Physicians, Pharmacists, Hospital Managers, Representatives of Scientific Societies etc.)
- Act as a trusted scientific ambassador and partner.
- The role is field based (50-60%) and will serve as a field-based extension of the Medical Affairs team.
- Through scientific interactions with external stakeholders the MSRM will gain insights into treatment patterns and scientific activities and translate this into an annual medical affairs plan and budget.
- Through scientific interactions with external stakeholders the MSRM is able to differentiate the medical value of the products, based on the risk-benefit profile of the drugs and contribute to enhanced innovative therapeutic approaches that benefit patients.
THE MSRM ROLE
The MSRM is able to:
- absorb the medical scientific knowledge including a deep understanding of Pfizer/BMS’s and relevant competitors scientific activities such as ongoing studies and product development initiatives;
- identify the scientific exchange needs of key opinion leaders and other relevant stakeholders in patient care;
- establish strong and lasting peer-to peer professional relationships with KOL's in healthcare, academia, payors and government organizations and patient organizations;
- communicate and educate about the therapeutic field / product portfolio/patient needs in a complaint and compelling manner;
- conduct therapeutic area training for sales, marketing and health & value colleagues;
- organize and co-drive advisory boards;
- support medical and educational grant applications from customers.
About you
Certification / education:
- Advanced degree in life sciences; MSc (PhD is a plus), or MD with relevant clinical experience
- Therapeutic experience/research or substantial patient care experience, 2 years minimum
- Formal education or experience in cardiovascular and/or anti-coagulation field
- Previous experience in a medical scientific role is a plus
Experience / competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and listening skills, with track record of effective and influential oral presentations
- Pro-active mindset, self-starter
- Fluency in English and Dutch is required (or willingness to become fluent in Dutch short term)
- Familiar with clinical research and/or clinical study design
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including knowledge of regulations for approval, reimbursement and use of drugs is preferred
- Ability to function effectively in a complex, constantly changing matrix environment
- Good understanding of current computer software and databases
